Galaxy Refactor is a passive space simulation where you don’t control an empire directly. Instead, you observe a living star system shaped by autonomous civilizations, ambitious clans, trade, research, diplomacy, and war.

Every civilization has its own temperament and priorities. Some focus on peaceful expansion, while others build enormous fleets, dominate trade routes, steal technologies, or fight for control of valuable worlds. Clans pursue their own interests as well: they can compete for influence, rebel against their rulers, split apart, and eventually establish entirely new civilizations.

Ships perform actual missions throughout the system. Traders carry resources between planets, haulers extract materials, agents conduct diplomatic and covert operations, and military fleets patrol borders, escort civilian vessels, defend colonies, and fight large-scale battles.

Wars are fought over planets, megacities, orbital stations, lunar fortresses, and a unique energy ring constructed around the system’s star. Conflicts can end through conquest, negotiated peace, reparations — or begin again when agreements are broken.

You are primarily an observer, but you can intervene whenever you choose: improve relations, provoke wars, support uprisings, enhance individual ships, spawn new objects, or alter the balance of power.

I can't figure out how to stop making ships; Right-click doesn't go back to a default pointer mode, left click & drage doesn't select a group of ships or planets, pressing ESC leaves fullscreen mode, which forces me to bring back fullscreen mode every time I try to use ESC to make the pointer work normally again.

Plus the lack of tutorial, lack of game goal, lack of story are HUGE gaping holes.

Hi, thanks for the feedback! Yeah, I overlooked that. The spawn closes via Esc, but I'll add RC in the next update + there will be a separate button inside to cancel the spawn.

This is a sandbox game, so do whatever you want. You can customize different civilizations however you like, double-click to rename them, and watch as some end up with everything and others with nothing - but the ones with "nothing" will actually have more resources, ships, etc. A tutorial will also be added in the next update.
